The Tuition Assistance Program
The Tuition Assistance Program is an initiative of the SDC Board of Directors
to help offset the difference between operating revenue and expenses. It offers a
structured opportunity to individuals, businesses and philanthropic organizations
to support SDC's mission of providing exemplary, affordable childcare for the
community.
An Overview of SDC Tuition
SDC has a sliding fee scale adjusted for family income for 2, 3 and 4-year-old
children. Approximately 40% of enrolled children are eligible for the WV
State subsidy reimbursement program (Mountain Heart). Operating costs are not
covered by State tuition reimbursement, USDA reimbursement nor parent fees. The
shortfall between operating revenue and expenses is bridged in part by United Way
support, fundraising events and individual donations.
Structuring a Tuition Assistance Program Grant
Each Tuition Assistance Program Grant can be named in honor of a loved one, a
favorite teacher, a favorite child or an organization or church. Grants can be
structured as single or multi-year pledges.
SDC is looking to the community that the Day Care has been a part of for 35 years
to support this new initiative and to help build its fiscal stability. Board
President Lynn Wilson would be pleased to discuss any aspect of this program. She
